Habsburg Haal

You have reached the heart of Tratzberg – the large Habsburg Hall with its magnificent family tree. 148 figures with a total length of 46 meters were created around 1507/08 and decorate the entire room. The family tree begins with the battle of Ottokar von Böhmen against Rudolph von Habsburg in 1278 and ends with figures of Charles V that have not yet been completed (on closer inspection, preliminary drawings can be recognized and show Charles V and his sister as children).

The typical clothing, hair and beard and headgear of the respective epoch can be derived from this extensive mural. Between the individual figures there are life-size deer frescoes with real antlers that served as candle holders.

The majestic wooden coffered ceiling rests on one of the most beautiful marble columns in Tratzberg.
